Lent ends this Friday and it is with great joy that we will soon be celebrating the Festival of Palms, Holy Week, & Pascha beginning this coming Saturday, Lazarus Saturday. The Parish Council takes very seriously everyone’s concerns about safety and staying in conformance with our bishop’s guidelines.
We have rented a 40 X 60 tent that will be installed in the playfield for the well-attended services. A stage will be installed for the altar area and a floor before the ambo. Since social distancing will be relaxed to three feet between members of different households, we will mark the ground for 3-0 social distancing and install 70+ socially distanced chairs.
Everyone is encouraged to wear flat shoes for the larger services that will be under the tent.
For all indoor services and activities (church, fellowship hall , and youth building), face covering will still be required. To help alleviate any fears, masks are still strongly encouraged for services in the tent area.
Following the Pascha service baskets will be blessed outside at the pavilion area. We will have our Pascha picnic following Agape Vespers.
Unless conditions change, signing up in advance is no longer necessary to attend any of the services.
We have a blessing to cease Covid precautions after 8 weeks of vaccine availability to those 16 and older. Some have raised concerns that this is too premature. The SJM Parish Council will meet in near the end of May to evaluate/assess current conditions. Please understand that there are some that feel that we are being over cautious and there are others that feel these precautions are unnecessary. The church is conciliar, so we will prayerfully and carefully approach this with everyone’s best interest in mind.
